Menus and Navigation

Manage the links in your site's header and footer from the dashboard: build menus, nest dropdown items, and adjust the header's look without touching the page editor.

How navigation fits together

  • Menus (Dashboard → Menus) are named lists of links. Your header and footer designs display them by name.
  • Header & Footer (Dashboard → Header & Footer) is where you choose and adjust the header and footer designs themselves.

Edit a menu once and every page updates — the header and footer are shared across the whole site.

Create or edit a menu

  1. Go to Dashboard → Menus.
  2. Click Create Menu and give it a Name (e.g. Footer Resources) and a Slug — the slug is what header and footer designs use to request this menu.
  3. Select a menu to manage its items.

Add menu items

  1. Click Add Item.
  2. Choose the Item type:
    • Existing page — pick any page on your site from a dropdown. The link follows the page automatically.
    • Custom URL — link to any address, internal or external.
    • Dynamic content — links populated automatically from a content source, so the menu stays current as records are added: your locations, your blog categories, your content types, or the top-level items of any content type that has detail pages (Services, Events, and so on). By default the source renders as a dropdown under the item's label; turn on List the items directly to place each record as its own top-level link instead — the usual choice for a footer column headed "Services".
    • Mega menu — a large multi-column dropdown panel.
  3. Set the Navigation label (what visitors see), an optional short description, and optionally an icon — there's even a Suggest icons with AI button that proposes icons based on the link's title and description.
  4. Toggle Open in new tab for external links if you want them to open in a new window.
  5. Click Save.
  • Use Add Sub-item on an item to nest links beneath it — the item becomes a dropdown in the header.
  • Make sub-item and Move to top level let you re-nest existing items.
  • Reorder items with the click-to-move control: click to pick an item up, click where it should drop.

Mega menus

A mega menu item holds multiple columns, each with an optional heading and its own list of links with icons and descriptions. You can also show a See All link at the bottom of the panel (e.g. See All Locations).

Footers are design library rows whose link columns display your menus. To change footer links, edit the menu the footer uses on Dashboard → Menus. To have a column list a content type's records — every service, say — add a Dynamic content item to that menu with the type as its source and turn on List the items directly; the column then follows the records as they are added, renamed, or retired. To change the footer's layout or styling, use Dashboard → Header & Footer and edit it like any row — see Editing Page Content.

Adjusting the header

On Dashboard → Header & Footer you can:

  • Switch the header or footer design — pick from the library of header and footer styles.
  • Quick Edit the header — an inline panel with the most common tweaks, applied site-wide instantly:
Control What it changes
Uppercase Links Nav link capitalization (desktop and mobile together)
Contained Width-constrained vs. full-width header
Button Style The header call-to-action button's style
Background Color The header's background color
Opacity Background transparency (useful on transparent headers)

For deeper header edits — the call-to-action text and link, the logo area, mobile menu content — open the header in the editor from the same page.

Good to know

  • The current page's nav link is highlighted automatically, and menus are keyboard- and screen-reader-friendly out of the box — skip link, dropdown states, and Escape-to-close all just work.
  • Menu labels can be translated per language with the menu's Translate dropdown — see Translating Your Site.
  • Menus can be exported and imported as files, handy for moving a menu structure between sites.
